Chief Program Officer
Since joining The Financial Clinic in 2007, Haidee Cabusora has worked in varied roles including Staff Attorney, Program Manager, Director of Services, and Director of Policy & Advocacy, before being named Chief Program Officer in 2015.
Haidee is responsible for leading the execution of the Clinic’s financial security building strategies: financial coaching and tax preparation services, capacity building with other organizations, and research initiatives and policy work. Bringing a uniquely experienced perspective, she embraces the many hats required of the position in order to leverage the work of the Clinic and its partners into lasting change to reach the 100 million financially insecure people living in America.
She played an instrumental role in leading the Clinic’s participation in a random control trial proving that the Clinic’s financial coaching models and programs make a measurable difference in the lives of low- to moderate-income families and individuals.
Haidee is an active participant on the CFED Assets & Opportunity Network Steering Committee and former member of the Internal Revenue Service Taxpayer Advocacy Panel: EITC Sub-Committee. She has supported two New York based coalitions – the New York Asset Development Coalition and Cash Earners – that have helped introduce four legislative bills towards supporting the working poor.
Before joining the Clinic, Haidee worked as a tax lawyer at Hale and Dorr LLP and FoodChange, where she supervised the largest free tax preparation site in the country and led their post-tax season legal services.
She holds a JD and LLM from Cornell Law School and a BA from Columbia University.
Having grown up around the corner from a local library and Friendly’s, she is an expert on black and white films (especially those with Charlie Chaplin!) and flavors of ice cream.
